How to know how to pronounce the O letter from bergamasque 27.07.2011 (10:37) How do you know when to pronounce the letter "o" as "o" or "a" ?
Sometimes I see a bar under the "o" to help know which way to pronounce, but more often than not, there isn't a bar (and by the way, is the bar commonly used in Russian or is it only used to help foreign Russian learners ?)

Having been raised in America, I speak English fluently; however, I feel my Russian is not where it should be. I would be more than happy to exchange English lessons for Russian lessons over Skype with anyone interested!

Today's sentence: use of imperfect verb from mbrainerd 04.02.2011 (13:57) "До встречи", - сказал он. "Я должен уходить."
Normally nuzhno and dolzhno take the perfective: nuzhno sdelat', dolzhen skazat', etc. If the action is required, it usually must be completed.
But here the imperfective softens (I must be going) and also distinguish...

how are verbs conjugated? from pedromorais 05.09.2010 (14:51) Privet!
While these flashcards are very effective in building up vocabulary, without teaching grammar they are just words and you can't really make sentences.

Stress. from rkvance5 18.02.2010 (10:28) I came to the forum to suggest adding stress markings. Even with recordings, it's very helpful to be able to SEE where the stress should be. Most Russian textbooks mark stress in writing to help the learner, and I think users of this site would benefit.

Excellent site - one recommendation from delphined 30.01.2010 (08:19) I love this site - it's an excellent tool for building up vocabulary over time. I do think it would be helpful, though, if you could mark stress. I find myself having to check other sources constantly to make sure I'm pronouncing the words correctly.
